The Korean War and 1950s America — Why The ‘Forgotten War’ Must be Remembered
1950s America was a time of transition and unique challenges. While the economy boomed and families flocked to the suburbs to enjoy modern living, the Korean War threatened post-WWII peace and prosperity.
It was a decade of growth and change. While World War II was still fresh in the minds of the average American, it felt like a time of hope. New technology captured our attention and opportunity seemed abundant.
If not for those who fought in Korea, however, the story would have been a very different one. While the average citizen enjoyed tv at home, others faced brutal temperatures and hostile enemies across the globe.
It is important to understand that, although this was a time of optimism, it was also a time of fear as communist aggression threatened another global conflict. Those who served in Korea held the line preserving democracy and freedom. They must never be forgotten.
We believe that those who gave so much for 1950s America and beyond deserve more. That is why we support an important bill we call The Greatest Generation Benefits Act. Learn more about this legislation here. Be sure you get our latest updates by following us on Facebook and Twitter.
