Sal Pizarro at MercuryNews.com writes that World War II Veteran, Sidney Walton, launched a cross-California trip “in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the end of the war.”

He traveled from San Jose to Sausalito which is “101 kilometers — about 62 miles — on Highway 101 at a speed of 101 km/hr” to match his age of 101 years. Remarkably, it was even estimated that his motorcade of “police escorts, classic cars, vintage military vehicles, and motorcycles” had 101 vehicles in it!

Thank you for your service, Mr. Walton. And thank you for your continued work commemorating the sacrifices of those who won the war.
