(Video) Tampa Bay Veterans Welcomed Home After Emotional Washington Visit

A group of Tampa Bay Veterans recently had the opportunity to fly to Washington to see the memorial dedicated to them. Many of these veterans served in the Korean War and had never been to the memorial until this year. It is kind of hard to believe that it took nearly 70 years for these heroes to see the memorial to the war they served in.

It was a very moving experience. Perhaps as emotional, however, was the greeting they received upon coming home. The same community that helped organize the flight made sure to give them a proper hero’s welcome. In the video below, two Korean War vets speak on their experience during the war and what this event meant to them.

Seeing the impact of this event on these Tampa Bay veterans illustrates two points. One, it’s so easy to give a little recognition to those who did so much for us. Two, as a society, we don’t do enough. We are committed to giving back to those who gave the most. This is why we support the bill we call The Greatest Generation Benefits Act.
