Four-Legged Visitors Bring Extra Love to this Nursing Home

Covid restrictions have made life challenging for everyone. None have likely suffered more than nursing home residents. Many elderly residents have not seen their family in nearly a year. The loneliness is hard to deal with as the world keeps moving on the outside. This is especially true for people like the Great Grandmother in the video below. During the pandemic, her family grew, and yet she has still not had the chance to hold her great-grandbabies. For residents like this, however, there is a bright spot.

Nursing home staff have been offering the companionship, comfort, and love that only a dog can provide. These dogs are pets of nursing home staff, and they have been paying regular visits to the residents for some time now. As you can see in the heartwarming video below, these furry friends have made quite the difference. While the pandemic has been quite the challenge over the past year, stories like this remind us, as dogs never forget, how easy it is to put a smile on someone’s face with a little bit of kindness.

Hopefully, the world will return to a little more normalcy soon and the elderly won’t have to remain isolated from their loved ones. In the meantime, it’s great that compassionate staff and their tail-wagging companions are there to show some love. We think that caring for our seniors is one of the most important things we can do. That is why we support a bill we call “The Greatest Generation Benefits Act.” You can learn more and sign our petition here.
