The Greatest Generation Benefits Act is the change American seniors need. While these older Americans have given so much, they sadly get too little in retirement. For many, the benefits they receive are far from enough to live on. Unfortunately, this is not a new problem. Social Security has been in need of revision for a long time. The needs of our seniors are not being met and we can’t afford to ignore this fact any longer.

Why Social Security Is Not Enough

Social Security Benefits are a lifeline for many Americans. However, many recipients find that these benefits don’t do enough. People often spend their lives working and assume that Social Security will take care of them, only to find that benefits don’t cover the cost of living. Those who don’t have a sufficient secondary retirement plan may even end up in poverty. This is not acceptable. Those who spent their lives working and sacrificing, should get the benefits they’ve earned.

What Will Change Under the Greatest Generation Benefits Act?

If the Congressional Bill known as The Greatest Generation Benefits Act passes, seniors will see real change. This would directly impact the generation that sacrificed so much during World War 2 and the Korean War. Under this new plan, seniors over age 82 would receive an additional $85 a month as well as a 4 percent increase every year after. This is a significant change from the small (less than 2 percent) benefits increase seniors received for 2021. This would make Social Security livable and would give older Americans the benefits they earned.

What we are Doing to Help

We urge Members of Congress to pass this important piece of legislation. Understanding that it takes hard work and cooperation, we work with our partners in on Capitol Hill as well as our fellow citizens to create change. This can only happen if we work together. That is why we strive to spread the word to all Americans. If enough people lend their voice to the cause, Congress will act much faster.
