Seniors Need Social Security Reform as the American Economy Continues to Face Challenges

Social Security reform may be more important than ever. Clearly, many seniors rely on these benefits and need to get the most out of them. Unfortunately, Social Security does not go far enough for many Americans. Those who think they will receive enough to live comfortably in retirement are often shocked to find how little they actually get. A change needs to happen and it needs to happen soon.

Why Social Security Benefits are Not Enough in 2022

Many Americans spend their lives working and assuming that Social Security will take care of them once they reach retirement age. Sadly, retirees without large savings often find they barely have enough to live on. Benefits are less than that of a living wage, and they fail to keep up with rising medical costs every year. The Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) falls consistently below where it needs to be for inflation.

The Change Americans Need

To truly give older Americans the benefits they earned, Congress needs to pass a bill we call “The Greatest Generation Benefits Act.” This would significantly increase the benefits many of our seniors receive — and certainly be a welcome change! The proposed bill would set a minimum of 4 percent every year for those over age 82. Additionally, the bill would give retirees an additional $85 per month. Together, these changes would create the kind of Social Security reform older Americans need.

How You Can Help

We’re working hard to encourage Congress to do what’s right for American seniors. Those who lived and sacrificed through WWII and the Korean War deserve more. We cannot do it alone, and we could use your help. This reform will only happen if enough Americans demand it. Tell Congress that you support this change by signing our petition. While you’re at it, please share with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter.
