Do Retired Americans Really Need Social Security?

Retired Americans are in a unique financial situation. While working people may have financial options such as changing jobs or even adding a side job, retirees are often stuck with the income they have regardless of the fluctuating economy.

As economic turmoil continues and inflation impacts us all, retirees face even more challenges. With high Medicare premiums and rising prices everywhere, it is very difficult for Americans to live on a fixed income.

At the same time, some question whether Social Security is really necessary in 2023. Some lawmakers propose cuts to the program, while others may not be actively working against it, but are clearly not making it a priority.
