Franklin Delano Roosevelt rightly receives praise for introducing Social Security. But did you know Frances Perkins, Roosevelt’s Secretary of Labor, “was the energy behind many” New Deal policies? Veer Mudami has written a fascinating profile on Perkins at WorcesterMag.com.

A Worcester, Massachusetts native, Frances Perkins implemented programs that “helped deliver Americans from the Great Depression… such as minimum wage, unemployment insurance and, of course, the Social Security Act.”
