101-Year-Old Black Female WW2 Veteran Honored For Her Service

Cresencia Garcia is a remarkable woman who was finally honored for her service to this country so many years ago. As a black female World War II Veteran, Garcia has experienced a lot in her years including adversity, segregation, and the fight against Naziism.

At a recent event at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Cresencia was honored along with others who served. In a special tribute to women who served during the war, the 101-year-old Army Medical Assistant was recognized for her contributions.

Of course, all who sacrificed during World War II deserve respect and recognition. It is especially touching to see someone who once served in a segregated unit surrounded by men and women, black and white gathered in her honor. See more in the video below.

It is extremely important to remember those who served in the Second World War. Those who lived through that conflict and Korea gave so much on the front lines and on the home front. That’s why we support a bill we call The Greatest Generation Benefits Act, which would give back to these great Americans. Learn more and sign our petition here.
