Actor and Vietnam Veteran Reflects on the Psychological Toll of the War
Tucker Smallwood built a successful life for himself as an American actor. His life, however, has been more complicated than that of a film star. In the 1960s, he fought in Vietnam and almost died from injuries he received on the battlefield.
Many years later, although he was living a successful life at home, the scars of the war came to the surface in an unexpected way. In the video below, he reflects on how he learned about his PTSD and how to heal. This is an important video for anyone dealing with the effects of trauma.
Unfortunately, many Vietnam vets spent decades after the war suffering in silence. Many were not treated well after returning from the conflict and never truly had the opportunity to heal. We are glad that this veteran found help and we hope that others like him do as well.
Many great Americans gave more than we can ever repay in WWII and beyond, and yet, these same Americans seem to be forgotten about today. We believe that these heroes need a bill we call The Greatest Generation Benefits Act. Learn more about this important legislation and sign our petition here.
