WWII Veteran Receives Medal Decades After He Earned it

A WWII Veteran recently received a medal for his service after decades of delay. William Wilburn is an American hero. Of course, you won’t hear that from him. While he was highly decorated for his efforts during World War II, it is not something he talks about much.

Wilburn enlisted in the Army right out of high school where he served in Germany with the 614 Tank Destroyer Battalion. The experiences of the war remain fresh in his mind all these years later.

Although, William was highly decorated during his time of service. It was common at the time to award ribbons in lieu of medals. Members of the Association of the U.S. Army and Salute Colorado group made a point of getting this great man his overdue medal. Read more on kdvr.com and watch the emotional video below.
