World War II Ghost Army Honored with Congressional Gold Medal 75 Years After Service

Members of two secret World War II military units referred to as the “Ghost Army” are receiving a special honor. They played an important role in the war and will now be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal more than 75 years after their service, thanks to new legislation recently signed into law by President Biden.

The Ghost Army was made up of two units that used special diversion tactics to draw enemy forces away from American units in Europe. They moved as an invisible force and changed the course of the war. Learn more about their unique tactics from the National WW2 Museum here.

This classified operation is estimated to have saved over 30,000 lives. Although they achieved so much, because of their secret classification, members were not recognized for their heroism fully until now. Read more about how this new bill honors the Ghost Army on Yahoo News.

Everyone who sacrificed during World War II deserves our respect. That’s why we urge Congress to pass The Greatest Generation Benefits Act. This bill would give back to those who gave the most during WW2 and Korea. Please sign our petition to help make this change a reality.
