Korean War veteran Ray Roe served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. While he is certainly an American hero for his service during the war, he has always looked to others as personal heroes of his. He was the fourth in his family to serve and always admired his role models growing up.

After following in the family footsteps, Ray returned to a normal life in the states. He married and spent years working as a Sears manager, but he always wanted to do something more to honor his fellow veterans. After retiring, he found a way to do so through a new hobby.

Looking for something to keep his hands and mind busy, Ray took up woodworking. The craft gave him comfort after the passing of his wife and allowed him to explore creatively. Now, joining two passions, he uses his skills to create unique plaques as a tribute to veterans. Take a look at his work here from Lex18.

You can’t beat stories like this. It is wonderful to see someone’s creative passion used to honor our heroes. We believe in giving back to the great Americans who gave so much during WW2 and Korea. That is why we support a bill we call The Greatest Generation Benefits Act. It’s time these great Americans receive the Social Security benefits increase they deserve.
