At What Age Should We Stop Caring About People?

To set things straight from the beginning, the title of this post is a rhetorical question. It is, however, a question we would like to ask members of Congress. It seems that after a certain age, we forget about our citizens.

Is it possible that we are only valued as much as our usefulness to governmental and business interests? People seem to be celebrated and respected in their youth. Yet once a person is too old to work or fight in wars, they are forgotten and ignored.

This is certainly a gloomy outlook on things, but it is also kind of hard to dispute. Look at those who sacrificed for us during major wars and returned with physical, mental, and emotional damage that lasts a lifetime.

These same people are left to struggle in their retirement age with high medical costs and low Social Security benefits. This is wrong, and we think everyone who agrees needs to tell Congress.

We urge everyone to contact their representatives and tell them that compassion does not have an exploration date. Furthermore, you should sign our petition telling Congress to pass The Greatest Generation Benefits Act. Please spread the word by sharing on Facebook and Twitter.
